Bandits[]
Bandits are aggressive human enemies. They are all members of the "Bandit Faction".
Not to be confused with the "Brigand Faction" which is neutral (until provoked) and the primary enemy during the village liberation events or the "Warrior's Guild Faction" which is peaceful and provides a quest or two for the player. As soon as the "Bandit Faction" sees you they will engage in combat. They can be encountered all over Karvenia.
The bandits use a variety of equipment, requiring different rules of engagement to defend against their attacks properly. They come in several tiers with different weapons and varying degrees of protection against your attacks. There are various bandit camps that you can attack each with different threat levels as indicated by the number of diamonds on the map. After wiping out all of the bandits at a camp there are usually two Point of Interest or POI Chests with loot. You can also claim a flag in the bandit camp which will despawn the bandit camp and ease tensions in the area for a short-while.
Like wolves, bandits can be encountered as a single enemy, but they are usually encountered in a group of at least 3 enemies. Bandits will raid your settlements taking your resources and will attack villagers if you bring them inside the 7 neutral Villages. Bandits can "kill" (knock out) your companions and settlers which will result in a day or more before that settler respawns at the assigned house in your settlement. Bandit parties can be large but are not as large as the up to 24-man reclamation parties encountered as a result of liberating a village.
Bandits boast a large drop table, but they do not drop weapons or armor. They usually drop food, skill books, various resources and are one of the best ways to acquire Straps, Bandages and Healing Salves, early on, in order to achieve tech level 2.
