Brigands[]

"Brigands" or the "Brigand Faction", are neutral human enemies. not to be confused with the aggressive "Bandits Faction (Bandits)" or the passive "Warrior's Guild faction". They are all members of the "Brigand Faction". They are hired mercenaries that protect all of the neutral villages. Brigands are the people in town that will generally not be polite to player. They are in Red Quilted Armor (In Spring) and Black and White Quilted Armor (In Winter). Their badge will state they are a Brigand. They almost always accuse you of wanting to start trouble to which you can say "I'm not looking for trouble." and then they grumble off. However, the brigands are also extorting the common folk as all the villager dialogue will reveal.

The "Brigand Faction" is the primary enemy during the village liberation events. To liberate a village you need to achieve at least Level 2 Trust (Protector) with a neutral Village. Then you will get a quest from the elder (Time Has Come: Village Name). You can instigate the Brigands by attacking them to trigger the liberation, but if you don't have the matching quest the Brigands (usually a group of 6-8) they will attack you every time you visit that village thereafter until you actually get the quest finished. If the Brigands are out and aggressive it will cause all the villagers to panic, they will cower and run into their homes you will not be able to interact with them buy items, rent a room, sell trust items or turn in quests (to build trust). This makes for a sticky situation if you attacked the brigands before having the appropriate trust to get the quest liberate the village. Once you defeat the brigands, the villagers will resume normal routines letting you interact with them again.

Unlike the bandits, the brigands can only be found in the neutral villages in Karvenia. After the village liberation quest has been started and the village belltower has been built you will see them as the threat when the reclamation parties are sent to take back the village.
