Description[]

  • "Tree" refers to an interactable element in the Bellwright game.
  • You strike a tree (by left clicking the mouse) with an equipped Simple Axe to chop it down after several strikes. The game will provide on screen instruction when you are lined up properly.
  • You can craft an Simple Axe from your inventory by right clicking and holding the axe picture on the bottom of the inventory screen when you have at least 6 Wood and 2 Crude Stone in your inventory.
    • You or a settler can also craft the Simple Axe at a Simple Workbench and other advanced structures later on. Make sure you have the appropriate skill level and resources.
  • There are two types of trees in Bellwright: Softwood and Hardwood.
    • A softwood tree is the most abundant tree, requiring a Tier 1 axe to chop it.
    • A hardwood tree is much rarer. They have many branches, yellow leaves and are much smaller. They require at least a Tier 2 axe to chop it.
  • A "stick" is a one-click harvestable node that will give you Wood when interacted with.
  • "Deadwood" is also a one-click harvestable node that will give you Wood when interacted with.
  • A tree will topple over and must be further worked by continuing to chop it (at the white dot hotspots) with your axe at the other into usable logs. Depending on the size and species of the tree, you can get up to 4 Logs.
  • Some in game regions such as Dimwater Marsh have trees that have already toppled over allowing you to collect a Log without requiring an axe to chop it. These areas have higher threat levels so be properly equipped.

Yields[]

  • Stick(one-click harvestable) - 1x wood
  • Deadwood(one-click harvestable) - 1x wood
  • Sapling
    • A player grown sapling planted by your settlers cannot be harvested until it grows.
    • A naturally occurring sapling can be harvested for 1x wood.
  • Young Tree - Chop for 3x wood.
  • Tree - Up to 4x logs depending on size.

Other Information About Trees[]

  • Once you unlock the "Forester" you can grow your own soft and hardwood trees.
  • Trees grow over time following a general cycle of Seed>Sapling>Young Tree> Tree.
    • If you chop a tree too early in the life cycle you get Wood instead of Log.
  • Trees respawn every few days.
